Gettysburg. The site of one of the bloodiest battles in the American Civil War on Earth, 1863. In that fight, Confederate Generals, lead by Gen. Robert E. Lee, were hard pressed against Union troops. It lasted for three days, starting on July first, and going until July third, in and around the city of Gettysburg. Gettysburg is remembered as the final nail in the coffin for the Confederacy, as it was a major defeat for their cause. But it is also remembered as a fight that was hard faught on both sides and Lee himself was later reported to have said that he was proud of his men for standing for what they believed in, no matter the cost to themselves.

Today, The Gettysburg is a ship in the Ninth Fleet, assigned to Obsidian Fleet Command. It is with the same spirit of preserverance and dedication to cause, shared by both modern day soldiers and fleet officers and the Confederate troops of that long ago battle, that she proudly takes her place within the fleet. The crew of The Gettysburg will be held to the highest of Starfleet's standards, as well as those of the Federation. And as always, "...To boldly go, where no one has gone before."
